TESL - Teaching ESL
Sprott-Shaw International Language College 's TESL Program is one of the best short duration courses available. It has been developed by experts in the various fields, and designed to provide participants with economy of costs and time.

Description:

Participants in the Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Diploma program will gain confidence, knowledge, and poise as they practice their new skills within a classroom setting. The TESL program includes theory, projects, presentations, and six exams.

Objectives:

Participants will acquire the ability to design lessons and teach all aspects of an English as a Second Language program to all levels of learners.

Beginner and Intermediate levels will be emphasized due to the needs of the typical student abroad. Participants will gain confidence and reinforce knowledge through observation and teaching in working ESL classrooms.

Graduates may apply for teaching jobs in Canada as well as foreign countries.

Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent, at least 18 years of age.

Students must pass a Sprott-Shaw International Language College assessment test and interview. A university degree is recommended.

International students should have a TOEFL paper based score of 525 or TOEFL computer-based score of 195, TOEIC score of 700 or pass the Sprott-Shaw International Language College assessment and review.

Students on practicum may require a criminal record check (done by Sprott-Shaw International Language College ), and TB clearance before teaching children.

Practicum:

Students will need to complete a 30-hour practicum arranged by the college. Participation is mandatory and students will have a practicum assignment to complete. Depending on past academic and teaching experience, as well as visa status and language level, students may work either with children or with adults.
